Inner Expeditions
Conversations about mindset, health and adventure. Delving a bit deeper with special guests to help us re-connect with ourselves and the outdoors. We'll also try and discover alternative methods to aid in our wellbeing. The show aligns with my own experiences after I started running to lose weight and resulted in me changing careers to simplify my life and overcome severe anxiety. Since then I've discovered that all round health is more than just physical fitness. I'll share with you stories and experiences with selected guests to inspire and motivate you to step outside your boundaries and try something new.

S1 E5 An Ultra Mindset With Mel Byrnes
This episode I'm joined by Mel Byrnes who is a PT and ultra runner. Mel has competed in Ironman events and marathons but right now is focusing on ultras.
What I like about Mel is her no BS attitude towards things and in moments when times get tough in endurance events, she just gets on with it. While training and even during events, Mel doesn't concern too much with times and technical info, instead she just goes by feel and trusts in her training.
Mel doesn't consider herself a conventional runner and prepares for events in her own way. She has learned to stay relaxed and enjoy the process, to the point where in her last race she only got her shoes on at the last minute.
We also talk about how people find enjoyment in suffering while competing and the places you go in your mind to get through. Sometimes it can be just putting one foot in front of the other just to keep going, or talking to your legs as Mel can do from time to time.
I'm happy to get my first runner on the show. This one was good fun and I hope you enjoy as much as we did talking about what we love doing.
